DID YOU KNOW that research from the May issue of The Journal of Nutrition showed that eating high-protein snacks in the afternoon helps teens improve the quality of their diets as well as control appetite? When kids eat high-protein snacks in the afternoon, they are less likely to eat unhealthy snacks later in the day, which is particularly important for kids who want to prevent unhealthy weight gain.

Have a happy, healthy day. Steve and Bonnie

Mold Is Everywhere
Bonnie: For much of the midwest, mold spore allergy season is at its zenith. This creates insufferable health issues for those with yeast overgrowth, candida, or mold allergy. Aside from the foods and beverages that cross-react with mold, many people are unaware of mold that may be lurking in their homes.

Toxic mold in your environment can be at the root of all kinds of health issues. I have had numerous clients discover toxic mold in their homes after we ruled out every other diet and lifestyle element that could have been contributors to their health-related symptoms.

Usually, people experience symptoms of mold exposure quickly. They include unexplained body mass gain or loss, loss of balance, inability to control anger, fatigue, anxiety, depression, sleep problems, rashes, respiratory symptoms, asthma, rashes, joint pain, irregular menstruation, cognitive decline, and permanent auto immune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and Hashimoto's thyroiditis, MS, and even some cases of autism. It is the sheer number of symptoms that confuses people because not everyone gets every symptom.

Why haven't we heard more about the negative health effects of mold? Most health professionals would never consider mold as the root cause of poor health. They are simply not trained to do so. Many are just beginning to understand that mold in the environment can cause your immune system to begin attacking your body.

Our agricultural practices have caused fungus to create more toxins, and our building practices have caused more mold to grow in our homes. Environmental mold is far more dangerous than food mold because inhaling mold gets much farther into your body, although food molds are the more common cause of illness. The U.S. has lower standards for food mold than many other countries. Most countries have no standards for interior mold and mycotoxin (mold toxin) levels.

If you think your symptoms are caused by mold, get tested for mold spore levels in your body and for mold allergy. You can also get a professional air test of your home to see if it's in the air. If your house flooded at some point, this is a necessity.

Stay away from places that have been flooded, have funny smelling air, or visible water damage. Dark spots on ceiling tiles are a sign of a real problem, for instance. Avoid eating foods that are always higher in mold toxins, like peanuts and corn.

Far Infrared Sauna Therapy
It is always the right time to experience Far Infrared Sauna Therapy.

Aside from the fact that you are taking one hour out of your busy lives to relax, Far Infrared Therapy offers numerous therapeutic benefits, most importantly enhanced detoxification. Many clients use it to relieve painful joints, rev up metabolism, and remove buildup of heavy metals.

A recent study in JAMA Internal Medicine found that increased frequency of sauna bathing reduced the risk of sudden cardiac death, coronary heart disease, cardiovascular disease, and all-cause mortality.
