Bonnie on MyPlate.
|
In general, MyPlate is an
improvement over MyPyramid. There
is, however, one glaring omission:
healthy fats. One cannot
exist optimally without healthy
fats. In a perfect world, the USDA
should have cut down on the portion
of grains and added a section for
healthy oils. This was a huge
misstep. Hopefully, they will put
this in the next version.
Furthermore, there was no need
for the dairy section that lies
outside of the plate. It is evident
that this is meant to be your glass
of milk. This section should have
said water.
The devil will be in the
details with regards to how MyPlate
will be taught. There is a lot of
room for interpretation. Of course,
I still prefer my version, The
Circle of Health, but as you
can see, the USDA is getting closer
and closer to my way of thinking.
Kudos to the First Lady and
Secretary Vilsack.

Dr. Schuster's Well Tips - June
|
Unique Pregnancy Technique.
My name is Dr. Liselotte Schuster. I
have worked with Bonnie Minsky at
Nutritional Concepts for over twenty
years. Each month, I offer wellness
tips from a Chiropractor's
perspective. Feel free to
email me topics to consider for
future segments.
This month,
I
demonstrate pregnancy pillows that I
use during a visit. They allow
women to lay face down so that I amy
access and adjust their spine, hips,
pelvis and other skeletal structures
for proper alignment of the baby in
utero and to reduce any discomfort
the mom's may have.
