| Dear
Valued Client, |
"Going Green" is a slogan for becoming
environmentally conscious and being proactive in
saving our planet. As a Licensed Dietitian
Nutritionist, I have another meaning for "going
green." It is a drive to encourage people to
eat more vitamin and mineral packed leafy greens. Going
Green (pdf) is a helpful handout to enhance your
wellness protocol.

Action Items for Weight Loss
|
There have been some interesting developments in the
field of weight-loss since we wrote our last piece
on the subject, Five
Ways to Avoid Winter Weight Gain. The bottom
line is, the more things change, the more they stay
the same.
Sales of over-the-counter weight-loss med Alli has
been extremely disappointing because of its side
effects. Blockbuster hopeful Rimonabant (Acomplia)
was recently rejected by the FDA.
For immediate and sustained weight-loss, you cannot
avoid addressing one or more of the following:
- Physical Activity
- Certain Medications Cause Weight Gain
- Detect and Avoid Food Intolerances/Allergies
- Detect and Avoid Gluten Intolerance/Celiac
- Eat Breakfast
- Address Emotional Eating
- Reduce Stress
- Get Adequate Sleep
- Avoid Artificial Sweeteners
- Avoid Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
- Avoid Excess Carbohydrate Consumption
- Discover Environmental Triggers
- Work with a Health Professional
- Balanced Eating, Not Dieting the Key
- Increased Protein Intake
- Detect Nutrient Deficiencies
- Address Chronic Inflammation
- Detoxify Excess Estrogen/Xenoestrogen
These
weight-loss action items have been validated by
multiple research studies in 2008. Please refer to
"Research Links" in the side column of our
newsletter for details.
