Dear Valued Subscriber,

Have a happy, healthy week. Bonnie and Steve.

The War on Supplements.

The same week that the media, in lock-step, eviscerated dietary supplements based upon two horribly misguided studies (read our response as well as Dr. Mark Hyman's), an impeccably structured supplement study was published, showing a major benefit on all-cause mortality. Not surprisingly, I found it  tucked away at an obscure web page, nowhere to be found in the mainstream media.

The study came out October 12th in the International Journal of Epidemiology. Researchers discovered that subjects with vitamin D levels in the range of 50 to 75 had 20% less mortality risk for all-cause mortality. The researchers go on to say that "the potential impact of adequate vitamin D status is illustrated by a study that suggested that, by supplementing adults in the United States with 1000 IU/day, economic costs from vitamin D-associated conditions could be reduced by $16 to $25 billion."

Steve - $16 to 25 billion? $16 to $25 billion! What more of an example can we produce to explain the complete, utter media bias against dietary supplements.

If the US Preventive Services Task Force stated that every American should have a minimum of 1000IU supplemental vitamin D, and insurance would have to reimburse for it, think of the health care savings that could be produced from, by far, the cheapest therapy that exists.

Oh wait, cheap? Big Pharma and the government regulators in their pockets do not want cheap. They want to line their pockets with that $16 to $25 billion.

Folks, it is going to get much worse before it gets better. We understand what is happening. The powers-that-be are deathly afraid of prevention. It is exactly what Bonnie has been up against her entire career. "First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win," said Mohandas Ghandi. Right now, they are fighting us. But we will win.
