More Evidence Organic and Non-GMO is Better.

Highlights from the upcoming June 15th issue ofFood Chemistry.

  • Glyphosate (Roundup) tolerant GM soybeans contain high residues of glyphosate and its metabolite AMPA.
  • Soybeans from different agricultural practices differ in nutritional quality.
  • Organic soybeans showed a more healthy nutritional profile than other soybeans.
  • Organic soy contained more protein and zinc, and less omega-6.
  • The study rejects that Genetically Modified soy is "substantially equivalent" to non-GM soybeans.

The study examined 31 soybean batches from Iowa and grouped them into three different categories: (i) genetically modified, glyphosate-tolerant soy (GM-soy); (ii) unmodified soy cultivated using a conventional "chemical" cultivation regime; and (iii) unmodified soy cultivated using an organic cultivation regime.

Organic soybeans showed the healthiest nutritional profile with significantly more total protein and zinc than both conventional and GM-soy. Organic soybeans also contained less total saturated fat and total omega-6 fatty acids (the inflammatory kind) than both conventional and GM-soy.

While GM-soy contained high residues of glyphosate and its metabolite AMPA, organic soybean batches contained none.

As if you needed more evidence, NCI Well Connect content explores other ways conventional growers are hurting us.

Doctors Don't Have to Be Superman.
Just Listen, Learn, and Be Accountable.

There was an inspiring story in the Daily Beast last week that many of you forwarded to us. We posted a link to the piece (look to your left).

Doctors should never be made irrelevant, as the headline suggests. We will always need doctors. However, the article does exhibit how when doctors open their minds, they can reap the rewards.

The piece explains how a doctor put her Multiple Sclerosis into remission through diet and lifestyle changes, after all conventional treatments were ineffective.

The funny thing is that the doctor talks about diet and lifestyle like she discovered gold. Check out the eating style she followed. Sound familiar?

When Doctors Don't Listen.

A gentleman came to see us last fall after it was suggested that he have a portion of his sigmoid colon removed for multiple acute attacks of diverticulitis. He was desperate to see if diet and lifestyle changes could save him from surgery.

The gentleman followed Bonnie's advice to the letter. Last week, he shared the wonderful news that his recent colonoscopy results were all clear.

The doctors did not ask what he did to achieve such a miraculous result. When our client offered up the fact that he just changed his diet, lifestyle, and took some supplements, the surgeon said "that's impossible." To add insult to injury, he suggested that our client still have the colon surgery.

It is this lack of open-mindedness and empathy that frustrates patients. We hear similar stories frequently from our clients.

Our advice is continue to educate your health professionals, even if they don't seem to hear you. Eventually, they will come around. We are seeing this first-hand in the gastroenterology field.

We would love to hear your story. Email us if you wish to share.

Twinlab Allergy Fighters Discontinued!

We regret to inform our clients that Twinlab has decided to discontinue Allergy Fighters because it is not a big seller. We apologize for the inconvenience.

In the interim, we have several alternatives. Please contact our office so we can individualize the right replacement for you.

Because there is no formula quite like it on the market, we are currently looking into creating a similar formula ourselves. Until then, while not ideal, we will offer you the best alternative we can.
