ASK
BONNIE for December 2004
*nothing new for December (the following was for November)
Question #1:
With my due date January 1st, I am scared about catching something the flu? Should I get a flu vaccine?
Answer #2:
Absolutely, not. All flu vaccines contain mercury, aluminum, and formaldehyde (all toxic to the fetus) - and the medical community worries about
ingested mercury in fish? Last year, the CDC was way off the mark guessing what of the thousands of possible strains would work. The CDC even
admitted last year's vaccine was a dismal failure. As you are probably aware of, one of the company's that provide the flu vaccine has been forced to
stop production due to unsanitary conditions and contaminated vaccines. Do you really want to take a chance when John Taylor, the FDA's associate
commissioner for regulatory affairs said, "Chiron (the flu vaccine maker who was shut down) wouldn't necessarily be able to discover problems,
identify the root cause and take steps to prevent similar issues from arising again." Another thing you must question is the CDC's flu vaccine
policy? As little as a few years ago, the only groups in which the flu vaccine was recommended were the elderly and chronically ill. In a few short
years, they now recommend it to the entire nation? As of 10/25/04, public health officials from top hospitals and universities are reminding people
that for most of us, getting a flu shot is not a life-or-death matter The flu vaccine will not necessarily prevent you from experiencing the flu's
miserable symptoms, like fever, hacking cough, runny nose and "hit-by-a-truck" body aches. "Right now the entire country runs on fear
and we don't need to live like that," said Catharine A. Kopac, a Georgetown University gerontology nurse. "We somehow think we should be
disease-free all the time. If you're leading a healthy life and you get sick with the flu, you're probably going to get through it." Finally,
someone is making sense.
We are recommending one Monolaurin (glycerol monolaurate; naturally found in mother's milk) daily as a preventative; if cold or flu ensues, we recommend
2-3 daily. We also recommend at least 500-1000 mg of Twinlab Quercetin + C or Ester-C, and zinc lozenges or liquid Zinc Tally (as directed) for
symptoms of cold or flu.
Question #2:
Are there preventative measures which you recommend for male hair loss?
Answer #2:
There are many preventative measures. Hair loss may be due to:
1) Male pattern baldness (genetic from mother's side)
2) Very low zinc intake/absorption
3) Very low protein intake/absorption
4) Hormonal imbalance (especially thyroid)
Until an individual consultation reveals the causative factors, specific nutritional supplements would not be worthwhile and very costly.
Have a happy, healthy day.
