Question #1:
Do you guys have any recommended guidelines for women 58 years old on medical exams? Such as how often should you have a PAP smear; how often a bone density; how often a blood test; how often a hormone test; and how often a mammogram?
Answer #1:
The best place to go for this info is
the U.S. Public Health Department (or Illinois). Our recommendations from a
holisitic point of view are a bit different:
Pap - not needed five years after menopause
Bone Density & Pyridium Crosslinks - first year after menses end; then every
five years (unless there is bone loss)
Blood test - every two years (with a physical from a primary care physician)
Hormone test (saliva preferred) - not needed after menses end unless symptomatic
Mammogram - never (not accurate); we suggest thermography (see attached document
from Dr. Lark).
Have a happy, healthy day.
