Question #1:
This is a questions for your ask Bonnie column. My kids are 3 and 5 years old. My 3 year old is a very good eater, but my 5 year old won't touch a vegetable besides corn.
Answer #1:
Don't worry about it yet. This is common for kids under six years of age.
Question #2 (follow-up):
I give them both a Yummi Bear multi-vitamin as well as a morning cocktail made out of yogurt, milk, 1/2 teaspoon of Carlson's Cod liver Oil (Cod liver in the fall and winter, regular fish oil in the summer), and 1/2 teaspoon of chlorella powder. I am wondering if I am overdoing any nutrients, i.e. vitamin A.
Answer #2 (follow-up):
No - this sounds great except they should take 100 mg. magnesium (my favorite is the non-allergenic, easy on the
digestive tract, Pure Encapsulations Glycinate (which can be opened and put into the "morning cocktail."
Question #3:
On the news last week it was suggested that if you take a drug for acid reflux you should take calcium as it affects the calcium in your body. If this is true, how much would you suggest take.
Answer #3:
What the news should have said is that acid reflux meds block the absorption of calcium from all sources because they
turn off stomach acid. Thus, they should be used for the shortest amount of time possible! Taking calcium will not help unless you take our a bone
building such as MCHC (microcrystalline hydroxyapatite) with magnesium on days when you are not taking the reflux meds.
Have a happy, healthy day.
