Question #1:
I was telling my friend to switch to stevia instead of Splenda and other sweeteners when she emailed me that stevia was not safe? What is your opinion?
Answer #1:
You can't believe everything you read! I have studied all of the Sugar Substitute research thoroughly.
Politics and money play a huge role in what the FDA does and does not approve. For instance, Aspartame (Equal) was approved because our
illustrious V.P., Rumsfeld (who was
head of Searle in the late 60's) paid FDA officials off and sent his opponent at the FDA on sabbatical while he pushed it through.
Stevia has an amazing history of safety. It has been used as the non-caloric sweetener of choice in the Orient for over 15 years with no known
complaints! I have used it and recommended it to my family and clients for 15 years with not one health complaint! Also, please read the
enclosed comments made by health experts. Do you really think I would recommend something to use on an unlimited basis without researching it?
Would I ever recommend anything that has a potential for
harm? Would health food stores and Whole Foods Markets across the country carry Stevia instead of Splenda, Nutrasweet, and Saccharin if it had
any suspected danger?
One sentence in the article you sent me says it all: "South Americans and Asians have used it as a sweetener for CENTURIES." I
just learned today that Whole Foods now carries the Sweet Leaf Stevia in many flavors in a liquid form. It even contains Grapefruit Seed Extract
to help the immune system...so GO FOR IT!
Have a happy, healthy day.
