ASK
BONNIE for October 2002
Question #1:
Is drinking sparkling water the same as drinking regular bottled water
nutritionally?
Answer #1:
If it comes from a natural spring (such as Perrier or Crystal Geyser), it is good or better than most filtered bottled waters, but not seltzer water, club soda (infused with tap or filtered plain water with added carbon dioxide molecules), or
mechanized carbonated water which is not nutritious.
Question #2:
I keep getting bloody noses! Often this happens in the winter when it is dry but that is not the case now. Can this be related to a vitamin/mineral deficiency? Or am I just this way?
Answer #2:
This needs to be checked by a physician. Dry air in winter may be a cause as you mentioned. Airborne allergy reactions can also create an irritation which can cause bleeding. Another cause is too much blood thinning (i.e. taking aspirin, NSAIDs, or more than 400IU of vitamin E on a regular basis.
Have a happy, healthy day.
