Question #1:

I have figured out that I have a mold allergy that does not want to give. Have been on Allegra, which I hate and now my MD, nice as he is, wants to put me on Antibiotics. Thoughts?

Answer #1:

You're in luck if the effect has been mostly on your sinuses and/or post nasal drip. The following works like a charm: 
 
1) antihistamine (such as OTC Claritin Reditabs) daily during high mold season 
2) Singulair (prescription) to dry up nasal passages 
3) use of Neti pot or saline thimerosal-free spray regularly during high mold season 
4) of course, avoidance of cross-reactors (yeast, peanut, cheese, mushrooms, fermented foods, etc.) 
5) take 2 Nutribiotic GSE tablets after lunch and two before bed 
6) If 1-5 are not enough, see: 
 
See an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist for special treatment of fungal infection (which make up most sinus infections). Make sure the ENT understands fungal infections! 
 
If your symptoms are manifesting in other ways, still do #'s 1, 4, 5 and see an allergist for mold desensitizing allergy shots or sublingual drops. 

Question #2:

If you were to formulate a natural regularity product, what ratio of soluble to insoluble fiber would you like to see ideally?

Answer #2:

It is very difficult to say because we go so much on individual need. Some people can only tolerate soluble only. For others, the ratios may be different.
 
What I can say is that unless someone is on a low residue food plan short-term, that they should get a minimum of 25 grams fiber daily. 
 
I do have my favorites, especially when it comes to soluble fiber. Fruits, veggies, nuts/seeds all provide soluble and insoluble fibers. So that should be recommendation #1. As a supplemental soluble fiber, I like PULVERIZED flax seed and Inulin. 
 
Whatever you do, do not consume psyllium!
