DID YOU KNOW that a huge study just appeared in JAMA Internal Medicine exhibiting the inextricable link between an antireflux lifestyle and reduced gastrointestinal reflux (GERD) symptoms? In 43,000 women followed over a total of 392,000 person years, an antireflux lifestyle prevented 40% of GERD symptoms that occur at least weekly. We have seen tremendous success with remediating GERD, but only when clients adhere to our recommendations fully.

Andrographis
Thailand's Food and Drug Administration approved the use of andrographis to treat early stages of COVID-19. They are making it available to their population at the five largest hospitals for those in the 18-60 age group with minor symptoms and should be conducted within 72 hours of confirmation of infection.
Andrographis is an important part of the Infection Stage protocol of our COVID-19 Monograph and Prevent and Treat Coronavirus 2.0 protocol.
Vaccine Prep
Researchers with the Association for Psychological Science say poor mental health may weaken the effectiveness of the new vaccine. There is decades of evidence showing emotional stressors inhibit the body’s immune system. Depression, loneliness, and stress all have a history of lowering the potency of vaccines. The new report suggests exercising and getting a full night’s rest before receiving the shot.
Another vaccine prep note: DO NOT take OTC or Rx pain killers (such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen) prior to or after your vaccination. It could render the vaccine's actions worthless.
Real-Time Data From Israel Encouraging
Israel is leading the world in vaccinating its population, and has the digital infrastructure to give real-time data on the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines' effectiveness. By February, the entire elderly population will be vaccinated. They are seeing that the first dose alone curbs infection 50-60% after the first 14 days. They will be giving out the second vaccine dose this week. Side effects have trended with what the vaccine manufacturers initial studies had shown.
Fitness After COVID-19
A study from Medrxiv confirmed that patients who have recovered from severe COVID-19 present low cardiorespiratory fitness, activate glycolytic fibers at low power outputs, and show low neuromuscular efficiency. This suggests that rehabilitation, exquisite dietary habits, and extra nutrients are essential to getting back to proper fitness performance.
COVID-19 Pneumonia
A study from Northwestern University that appeared in Nature found that COVID-19 pneumonia is significantly different from pneumonia caused by other causes. It hijacks the lungs' own immune cells and uses them to spread across the lung over weeks. The infection leaves damage in its wake and fuels the fever, low blood pressure and damage to the kidneys, brain, heart and other organs in patients with COVID-19.
Like most epidemiological experts and the World Health Organization, the study's authors state that COVID-19, like influenza, is unlikely to ever go away, even if much of the population is vaccinated. So it is essential that proper prevention and treatments are found to lessen its severity.
Probiotics
It is possible that low numbers of Bifidobacterium bifidum may predispose one to more severe COVID-19, according to a study in Gut. Numbers of the popular probiotic strain in the large intestine remained low in severe COVID-19 patients even after 30 days. Except in those addressing yeast issues, we always recommend this probiotic strain when taken via oral supplement.
Omega-3
In an Medrxiv study, evidence suggests that the risk for death from COVID-19 was lower in those with the highest omega-3 index levels. Omega-3 is a healthy fat most commonly found in fish and seafood.
