DID YOU KNOW that a study from Frontiers in Nutrition found that over a 10 year span, higher dietary antioxidants intake from food and supplements was associated with lower atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk among U.S. adults?
ASCVD remains the leading cause of death and disability in U.S. The authors of the study urged policymakers and healthcare professionals to increase the consumption of antioxidant-rich foods and supplements as a preventive strategy for ASCVD.
Another suggestion to increase antioxidant capacity is to supplement with probiotics. A Frontiers in Nutrition study found that probiotics reinforced optimal antioxidant status in a cohort of subjects and should be a consideration for preventing the incidence of chronic diseases.
