DID YOU KNOW that a study from Nutrients found that oral probiotic supplementation lowers the levels of some inflammatory markers in patients with autoimmune diseases?
Significant reductions were observed in levels of IL-6, IL-1β, and TNFα compared to controls. In multiple sclerosis patients, the probiotics group demonstrated greater improvements in hs-CRP.
The authors purport that because autoimmune diseases usually start in the gastrointestinal tract, balancing the microbiome would in turn help reduce immune dysfunction and lower inflammatory activity.
