DID YOU KNOW that the state of Florida health department tested arsenic content in some of our most popular candies and found that it did not take much to exceed elevated levels?
They calculated how many pieces/servings it would take to exceed safe levels of arsenic. For example, they found that a child would only need to consume 6 pieces of Jolly Rancher Hard Candy Sour Apple in one year to exceed safe levels of arsenic. For adults, it would only take 15 pieces consumed in one year to exceed safe levels. Many kids and adults eat that many in one week.
If you want to peruse the list of candies screened for arsenic and how much it would take to exceed safe levels, please go to this page.
