DID YOU KNOW that astaxanthin has exceeded just carotenoid and antioxidant status, and is now considered a mitochondrial regulator? For those of you who are not familiar, mitochondria is an organelle in the cell that creates energy. A new study from Nutrients confirmed and explained the mechanism by which astaxanthin enhances mitochondrial energy. We now know why so many athletes, those with cardiac deficits, those with fatigue disorders, and many others with mitochondrial-related disorders derive such benefit from astaxanthin supplementation. Astaxanthin appears as an option on our Prevent and Fight Viruses 2.0 Protocol because it is a potent antioxidant that quenches free radicals produced by SARS-CoV-2. Astaxanthin is also part of our Post COVID Syndrome 2.0 Action Plan because "long COVID" is a mitochondrial disorder and astaxanthin can enhance mitochondrial recovery and function.

UPDATE - COVID-19 Vaccine Information We updated this document Monday, January 10th.
Virus Prevention And Treatment Vaccines will minimize COVID-19 related mortality and hospitalizations, but SARS-CoV-2 is not going away, as evidenced by its ever-mutating variants. Moreover, SARS-CoV-2 is not the only virus we fight. There are influenza (flu), norovirus (stomach flu), adenovirus (common cold), and four other coronaviruses (common cold), among others. We highly recommend continuing your immune support. For more information, refer to our Prevent and Fight Viruses 2.0 Protocol.

COVID-19 UPDATE
Steve: Whitehouse spokesperson Dr. Anthony Fauci and CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky should be paying attention to, and include, all of the incredible data that is being published about diet, supplements, complementary, and lifestyle therapies for COVID-19 prevention and treatment. Instead, they are still just focusing on vaccines, masks, and drug treatments. Feast your eyes on the following: Zinc A new study from Frontiers in Medicine found that zinc picolinate at 10 mg, 25 mg and 50 mg per day all work to “prevent or mitigate” the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. What's more exciting about this case control study is that most of the subjects had COVID-19 comorbidities, which means they were overweight/obese and/or diabetic. Subjects who did not take zinc were seven times more likely to develop symptomatic COVID-19 infection compared to those taking zinc. Researchers also found that for every additional comorbidity, the likelihood of developing symptomatic COVID-19 infection increased 1.57 times. In addition, symptoms were much worse in subjects who were not taking zinc. Role of Immunomodulatory Nutrients in Alleviating COVID Complications An Advances in Nutrition review purports that evidence demonstrates supplementation with immune-supportive micronutrients such as vitamins D and C and zinc may modulate immunity and alleviate the severity and risk of infection. The review indicated that supplementation with high-dose vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc may alleviate the complications caused by COVID-19, including inflammatory markers, oxygen therapy, length of hospitalization, and mortality. While trials are ongoing to further identify the most effective nutrients and the right dosages to combat SARS-CoV-2, the aforementioned should be included in governmental prevention protocols. Melatonin Researchers in a new Biorxiv study recommend repurposing and treating melatonin like a drug for the prevention of brain infection by SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19-related long-term neurological symptoms. Prevention Through Diet, Supplements, and Lifestyle A sweeping editorial in Nutrients implores world health public officials to address "the implementation of efficacious non-pharmacological interventions (such as dietary supplements) coupled with the promotion of healthy dietary and lifestyle patterns may promote overall health and reduce one’s risk of infection, disease, and death as a result of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic."

Let's start with the primetime matchup.No. 14 Oklahoma State No. 18 OklahomaSometimes it all comes down to scheduling. Oklahoma State will never get Oklahoma to start Big 12 play. The Sooners struggled through their first two Big 12 games but have played some really good football since then. Injuries have hampered OSU in its last two games but both teams are coming off bye weeks. Can OU pick up where it left off? Did OSU's key players heal enough to play to their full ability today?
