DID YOU KNOW that children of mothers who consume optimal vegetable intake in their third trimester scored significantly higher on several cognitive measures at eight years of age than children of mothers with lower vegetable intakes?
The suggestion of critical exposure windows for prenatal polyphenol intakes for optimal cognitive development has similar functionality to other nutrients that play roles in brain and cognitive development, such as the omega-3 fatty acid DHA. The new study was presented at American Society for Nutrition's annual meeting.
A study from American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that intake of fruit and vegetables with high pesticide residue in males is associated with adverse fertility outcomes. The remedy for this would be simple: eat organic produce.
