Sparkling Water Study Is Revealing

DID YOU KNOW that naturally sparkling mineral water is not only beneficial for your bones, but a new study from Nutrients suggest benefits for skeletal muscles that support your bones as well?
The double-blind controlled study found that daily intake of one liter of naturally calcium and magnesium-rich mineral water compared with low-mineral water over 12 months reduced fall risk and improved muscle mass in adults 50 years or older.
The key here is "naturally sparkling". Naturally occurring bicarbonate from calcium and magnesium gives the water its effervescence. Most sparkling waters are infused with carbon dioxide for effervescence, which can have a detrimental effect on bones.
As you may already know, our favorite brand of naturally sparkling mineral water is Gerolsteiner. Others like Pellegrino are fine, but Gerolsteiner is the highest in mineral content.
