The Forgotten Organ | Work From Home?

DID YOU KNOW know that working-from-home makes you move less, according to a study in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity?

Researchers tracked hybrid workers with thigh-worn motion sensors, comparing each person against themselves on office versus remote days, and on remote days. People sat about 44 extra minutes and logged roughly 58 fewer minutes of movement. The reason is simple: an office day has built-in activity that quietly breaks up sitting, while a home setup doesn't.

The fix doesn't require a gym overhaul, just a little intention. Standing during Zoom calls or pace during phone calls, take a 10-minute walk in place or a coffee break. Use a timer to stand up every 30-45 minutes, do a lap around the block between meetings, or recreate a "commute" with a short walk to bookend your day.
