DID YOU KNOW that relying on food alone to meet your micronutrient needs is misguided?

A new study from The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published findings from a huge cohort of men and women who were followed for 15 years. When assessing 21 micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), the authors state that little has changed with regard to meeting the daily value requirements compared with the last assessment 15 years ago.

Keep in mind that these Americans did not meet most daily value micronutrient needs, which we consider woefully low to start with. Daily value needs to be revised and most minimum micronutrients need to be increased across the board.

This is why supplementation is necessary to augment daily micronutrient needs.

DID YOU KNOW that according to a new study in Science of the Total Environment, you may want to curb or eliminate indoor household sprays.

Common household products release nanoparticles, grains of engineered material so small they’re invisible to the human eye, that often contain harmful heavy metals and chemicals.

When household sprays such as disinfectants, cleaners, sunscreens, hair sprays, cosmetic mists, and powders are used indoors, study authors say residual nanoparticles stick to carpet fibers and floors, which can be re-suspended in the air and rise as high as that person’s breathing zone when walked on. It also means children are more likely to inhale nanoparticles since they are closer to the floor.

DID YOU KNOW that America's hottest selling dietary supplement right now is magnesium? How ahead of the game were you?!

Researchers in a European Journal of Nutrition study found that after following cognitively health adults aged between 40 and 73, who increased their total daily intake of magnesium (from food and supplements) to 550 mg., their "brain age" was nearly one year younger compared to those who consumed a total magnesium dose of 350 mg daily.

In a Frontiers in Nutrition study, the authors support the view that magnesium deficiency is associated with increased risk of cardiac arrest as well as respiratory failure and acute coronary syndrome.
