Eggs and Alzheimer's Disease

From eNewsletter 8/12/2026

DID YOU KNOW that eggs are a source of key nutrients that support brain health, especially because the yolk is rich in choline? A study from The Journal of Nutrition explored the effect of eggs on Alzheimer's disease.

Researchers followed participants for over 15 years. Compared with never/rare egg consumption, there were those who ate eggs 1-3 times per month, once per week, 2-4 times per week, and 5 or more times per week.

Overall, egg intake was associated with a 17%–27% reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease relative to no intake. Eating eggs 5 times per week was related to the highest reduction in Alzheimer's disease cases, followed by 2-4 times per week.
