DID YOU KNOW that reductions in D2R activity, one of the genes that control dopamine signaling, commonly create a reward deficit and altered appetitive motivation, which induce compulsive eating and obesity?
In a study from Frontiers in Nutrition, researchers found that low dopaminergic signaling was evident in eating behavior, specifically in negative snack food choice, emotional eating, and uncontrolled eating.
This behavior is commonly seen in those who are heterozygous, but especially homozygous, for DRD2 genes. Thus, these genes are expressing themselves negatively by suppressing regular dopamine production.
