DID YOU KNOW that there is one reason for not being sedentary that is rarely discussed?


Researchers in Journal of Applied Physiology found one element making get-up-and-move logic truly work, but is never mentioned compared to all the other recommendations about refraining from long periods of sitting: protein synthesis.


Taking regular, short walking or squatting breaks improved the body’s ability to turn dietary proteins into the building blocks of muscle. Alternatively, there was a 27% decrease when subjects were forced to reduce their daily steps by 90%.


Protein synthesis, the final stage of the process that transforms what we ingest into muscle mass. Any sort of muscle contraction helps with this. That's why performing exercise snacks are so helpful. Besides short walks and squats, you can do lunges, jumping jacks., pushups, or run in place.
