Colossal Victory for All Americans

From eNewsletter 1/19/2022

DID YOU KNOW that an under-the-radar announcement last week from the FDA brought some of the best news we've received in our 37 years of existence? FDA Announces Qualified Health Claim for Magnesium and Reduced Risk of High Blood Pressure Let that sink in. If you know anything about us, you know we consider magnesium the single most important supplemental nutrient. And if you know anything about the FDA, you know that they rarely, if ever, allow nutrient label claims. Although decades late, we must give credit where credit is due. Thank you FDA for listening to public health experts like ourselves who have been clamoring for more action on getting magnesium into Americans, most of whom are deficient. This huge step will not only help prevent high blood pressure, but myriad diseases. This seemingly small measure will potentially save billions in health care costs over time. The one unfortunate aspect of this announcement is that I found it buried in an online trade periodical. Out of myriad news outlets I pore over every day, the announcement was nowhere else to be found. No matter, it is still the best New Year's gift we could ever imagine!

UPDATE - COVID-19 Vaccine Information We updated this document Monday, January 17th.

Virus Prevention And Treatment Vaccines will minimize COVID-19 related mortality and hospitalizations, but SARS-CoV-2 is not going away, as evidenced by its ever-mutating variants. Moreover, SARS-CoV-2 is not the only virus we fight. There are influenza (flu), norovirus (stomach flu), adenovirus (common cold), and four other coronaviruses (common cold), among others. We highly recommend continuing your immune support. For more information, refer to our Prevent and Fight Viruses 2.0 Protocol.

COVID-19 Condition Monograph For those interested in conventional and integrative treatments for COVID-19 with over 250 references, this is our COVID-19 Condition Monograph.

UPDATE - Post-COVID Syndrome 2.0 (November 2021) The official diagnosis for post-COVID syndrome (PCS) are symptoms that last for 12 weeks or more. If you, a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor is suffering from PCS, diligently following our Post-COVID Syndrome 2.0 Action Plan for purchase, or free to paid members here (must use the password), can bring measurable improvement.

Have a happy, healthy day! Steve and Bonnie Minsky

COVID-19 UPDATE

Steve: As predicted, Omicron has shown to be much less virulent than all variants that preceded it. A CDC study published last week states that Omicron was 90 percent less likely to kill those infected than Delta. Even CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky was quoted saying the overwhelming number of current COVID-19 deaths, over 75 percent, occurred in people who had at least four comorbidities. She also said that this variant is not more severe for children. As we should see a steep drop in Omicron cases over the next few weeks depending upon where you live, looking forward, it seems very few public health experts and officials have learned anything during the pandemic. Whether opining about the "new normal" and how to live with the COVID-19, or suggesting how to prepare for the next pandemic, it seems the "best and brightest" our country has to offer are either stubbornly obtuse or simply misinformed. In four separate viewpoints by the White Houses's blue-ribbon COVID-19 advisory panel, published in JAMA, there was not a single mention of addressing the obesity epidemic, the lack of physical activity, and any of the major lifestyle factors that made us the most vulnerable county in the world during the pandemic. Unless lifestyle habit improvement campaigns are given the same emphasis as masks, social distancing, and vaccines, the next pandemic will just seem like Groundhog day. And now for the latest on COVID-19... WHO and EU Have Come to Their Senses on Vaccines Last week, WHO officials said that repeated COVID boosters are not a viable strategy. The European Union went so far as to suggest that too many boosters risk overloading the immune system, leading to a reverse effect in which the immune system tires from overactivity and will respond poorly to future viral offenders. Even Pfizer's CEO is "unsure" a fourth dose is necessary. We did not, and still do not, recommend boosters except for a few specific groups. For children, too many doses are not advised, especially given the results of a new Nature Immunology study showing children who get actual COVID-19 infections exhibit durable, long-term immunity beyond 12 months to all variants. Aerobic Capacity in Those Who Get COVID-19 A new study from Medxriv found that when comparing unvaccinated versus vaccinated subjects who contracted COVID-19, those who were vaccinated had significantly better aerobic capacity than unvaccinated when screened months post-infection. This is especially prescient information for athletes. Reason for Post-COVID Syndrome Confirmed As we stated six months into the pandemic, COVID-19 infection can trigger an immune response that lasts well beyond the initial infection and recovery, even among people who had mild symptoms or no symptoms at all, according to findings in the Journal of Translational Medicine. COVID-19 can stress the immune system so much that autoantibodies are produced, similar to people with diseases in which the immune system attacks its own healthy cells, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Best Way to Promote Healthcare Worker Health? Address vitamin D deficiency! In a new study from BMC Nutrition, Prevention & Health, approximately 90% of the healthcare workers had vitamin D deficiency regardless of sex. Vitamin D deficiency is as an independent risk factor for developing COVID-19 infection, and also plays a significant role in preventing or alleviating acute respiratory tract infections. Glutathione Deficit The effect of infection with COVID-19 on the levels of oxidative stress, oxidant damage and glutathione, the most abundant physiological antioxidant, is devastating. In a study from Antioxidants, compared to healthy age-matched individuals whose samples were taken before the pandemic started in 2019, patients hospitalized with COVID-19 had significantly increased levels of oxidative stress and oxidant damage, and markedly reduced levels of glutathione. This is why glutathione was included in our original COVID-19 monograph and protocols.
