From eNewsletter 2/27/2023

DID YOU KNOW there has been exciting research on probiotics recently?

A study in Nutrients found probiotics significantly improve the symptoms of pregnancy-related nausea, vomiting and constipation. This is why we always recommend one with a prenatal vitamin.

Lactobacillus probiotic supplementation has a beneficial effect on low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) and total cholesterol in adults who are overweight or obese, and also on fasting plasma glucose and triglycerides, according to a study in Clinical Nutrition.

In those with irritable bowel syndrome, the probiotic strains Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus acidophilus had the highest efficacy, especially on quality of life, bloating, and abdominal pain, according to a study in Nutrients.

A multispecies probiotic for a total dose of 10 billion colony-forming units daily reduced the overall risk of diarrhea during and for 7 days after antibiotic treatment in children, as reported in JAMA Pediatrics.

Researchers publishing in Nutrients found therapeutic, synergistic roles of SAMe and probiotics for depression.

A study from Frontiers of Nutrition suggests healthy human adult gut microbial communities have the capacity to produce B12 at levels fulfilling their own requirements.

Nutrigenomics and Optimal Wellbeing

Steve: If you've already incorporated our Pure Genomics wellness screening into your individualized wellness plan, you can skip this because you already know how important it is.

For years, we knew how important genetic screening was for our clients unique genetic needs, but it was not available. When it finally arrived, we were even more amazed by its value for not only providing clues for to how best address our clients individual needs, but also as a reinforcement tool to prove to clients that what we were advising them to do was correct.

Whether you are an existing client was has not done it yet or a prospective client thinking about scheduling an appointment, let the following give you more impetus to incorporate the genetic piece for optimizing your overall wellbeing.

Secrets Revealed

Until we know your genetic piece, there are still secrets about your unique genetic needs that can make an immense difference in your ability to optimize your day-to-day as well as long-term wellbeing.

For example, until we know the variation of your MC4R, FTO, ADIPOQ, and PPARG genes, we cannot know for sure if you would thrive or flounder on an intermittent fasting eating style.

Moreover, we can never be sure if a universal antioxidant like glutathione would be beneficial or potentially harmful for you based upon your GSTP1 gene variation.

What about the new client who comes to us doing a keto diet and their blood work looks horrible? If they have a certain gene mutation, overfeeding of saturated fat is the culprit.

Without the genetic piece, we may never know why you feel so awful after running long distances. It may be that your genetics favor short bursts of activity instead.

Through genetic screening, we have the ability to know what nutrients you have a tougher time utilizing from your diet and supplements, and can provide nutrients that circumvent potential genetic roadblocks for absorption.

The aforementioned are but a smattering of how we can reach the deepest level of understanding your individual needs.
