First Lady Took the "Natural Route"

From eNewsletter 10/21/2020

DID YOU KNOW that First Lady Melania Trump published a statement last week on her bout with COVID-19? She made two compelling statements: "I was very fortunate as my diagnosis came with minimal symptoms, though they hit me all at once and it seemed to be a roller coaster of symptoms in the days after. I experienced body aches, a cough and headaches, and felt extremely tired most of the time. I chose to go a more natural route in terms of medicine, opting more for vitamins and healthy food." "I encourage everyone to continue to live the healthiest life they can. A balanced diet, fresh air, and vitamins really are vital to keep our bodies healthy." Her full statement entitled, "My Personal Experience with COVID-19", can be found at this link. PRODUCT UPDATES

There are influenza (flu), norovirus (stomach flu), adenovirus (common cold), and four other coronaviruses (common cold), among others. Prevent and Fight Coronavirus 2.0 is our must-read protocol.

Have a happy, healthy day! Steve and Bonnie

COVID-19 UPDATE

Steve and Bonnie: New research that you need to be aware of!

Blood Type Another two studies published last week in Blood Advances showed that being blood type 'O' offers more protection against severe COVID-19 symptoms than blood types 'A', 'B', and 'AB'. Five out of six studies on blood type have arrived at the same conclusion. Physical Activity A new study from Medrxiv found that sufficient physical activity levels are associated with a lower prevalence of COVID-19-related hospitalizations. Performing at least 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity, or 75 minutes a week of vigorous-intensity physical activity reduces this prevalence by 34.3%. COVID-19 Looks to Be a Year-Round Nuisance While respiratory viruses are seasonal, researchers publishing a study in Nature state that we will not be so lucky with SARS-CoV-2. It seems that because SARS-CoV-2 is more of a blood vessel virus than respiratory, the chances of it being a year-round threat is probable. Antibody Immunity Most studies looking at the length of antibody immunity in those who have contracted COVID-19 have found it to be somewhere between two and three months. Two new studies from Science Immunology echoed this by finding antibody immunity lasting about three months. However, a journal Immunity study from University of Arizona researchers found immunity lasting up to seven months.  Obviously, more research needs to be done but based upon anecdotal case reports, immunity seems to last somewhere between two and seven months. These researchers, like others, were only testing IgG immunity. Studies on long-term T and B cells, which can also offer immunity, have not been performed. COVID-19 Reinfection As we stated weeks ago, the threat of COVID-19 reinfection is real. Not only have more cases cropped up, but there have been several deaths attributed to those who were reinfected. While still very rare, and most cases do not come with the severity of the original infection, this shows that you still need to be vigilant even if you had COVID-19 already. Remdemisvir and Interferon A new study from The World Health Organization states that the promising antiviral Remdemisivir and the signaling protein Interferon did not improve the outcome of hospitalized patients when the bulk of data was reviewed. While this is not a death blow, it does not bode well for either. Universal Mask Wearing According to University of Washington's IHME COVID-19 Forecasting Team, use of simple masks can reduce transmission of COVID19 by 40% worldwide. Universal mask use would lead to a reduction of 815,600 deaths between August 26th 2020 and January 1st 2021. Mask use was estimated at 59.0% of people globally on August 18th, ranging from 41.9% in North Africa and the Middle East to 79.2% in Latin America and the Caribbean. The effect of universal mask use is greatest in countries such as India, the United States of America (93,495 fewer deaths, and Russia. Immune Functions of Micronutrients against SARS-CoV-2 A new study in Nutrients lists the following micronutrients as most effective: vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, as well as minerals: iron, zinc, and selenium. Do not take any of these unless you speak with a licensed health professional first.
