DID YOU KNOW that regular physical activity may ease symptoms of depression about as effectively as psychological therapy, according to an updated Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews?
The review found that light to moderate intensity exercise may be more helpful than vigorous workouts. No single form of exercise clearly outperformed others. However, programs that combined different types of activity and resistance training appeared more effective than aerobic exercise alone.
Exercise should be the first line therapy for anyone dealing the beginnings of depression. Better yet, exercise consistently, starting at a young age as a preventive to combat depression.
